In this project we used forensic science to find out who killed Carleton Comet.
Terms
Chromatography - the separation of a mixture by passing it in solution or suspension or as a vapor (as in gas chromatography) through a medium in which the components move at different rates.
Karyotype - the chromosomal constitution of the cell nucleus; by extension, the photomicrograph of chromosomes arranged.
Genotype - the entire genetic constitution of an individual.
Complete Dominance - an allele in a gene that is more powerful so the phenotype is always shown
Co-Dominance - both alleles of a gene contribute to the phenotype of an organism
Incomplete Dominance - one allele is not completely dominant over another; mix
I liked this project because along with that science we also had to problem solve. Finding out the killer was a lot harder then I thought it would be. There are so many steps to get enough data to charge someone. My group consisted of Sebastian, Justin, Marilynn, and me. With all of us combined the project was really easy. We finished in a timely manner and was able to get enough data you charge Carleton Comet. I think I did really well on problem solving during this project. When thing didn't seem to turn out the way it was suppose too, I could think up an idea to fix the problem. I need to work on staying focus on the task. Even though the project was fun and easy, it was easy once finished to stop what I was doing and talk to others outside of my group. Overall the project was an interesting experience and now I know what I would be doing if I went into a career in forensic science.
